Former Inter Milan coach Andrea Stramaccioni feels that defender Francesco Acerbi was fair in his comments comparing Inter and Juventus.

The ex-coach spoke to Italian broadcaster DAZN, via FCInterNews.

Recently, Inter defender Acerbi gave an assessment that suggested there’s a bit of a double standard in how the Nerazzurri and their Serie A title rivals Juventus are talked about.

With Inter, he suggested, the expectations are always very high.

When the Nerazzurri fail to win, there is a public and media perception that it is a failure. Or at least below par.

Then, on the other hand, the fact that Juventus have kept pace at the top of the table has earned them a reputation as surprise overachievers.

Acerbi made the point that the Bianconeri still have a high-squad full of players who arrived for big fees.

Naturally, this notion has not been without some controversy.

There is a sense that the Inter defender is taking a dig at Juventus.

However, former Inter coach Stramaccioni agrees with the assessment that Acerbi has given. He feels that the 35-year-old is doing more than just venting his personal frustrations with the comments.

Stramaccioni: Acerbi Fair With Comments Comparing Inter & Juventus

“Acerbi certainly never says empty words,” Stramaccioni said.

“He’s a mature guy who speaks his mind.”

“He asked the question of why Juventus are working miracles, but Inter are just doing what is expected of them,” the former coach continued.

“Saying that he disagrees, because Juventus have spent big. Then Inter have only brought in free transfers.”

Stramaccioni argued that “I think that it’s a fair comment.”

This weekend, Juventus once again closed the gap to Inter at the top of the Serie A table.

The Nerazzurri drew away to Genoa, whilst the Bianconeri beat Roma at home.

Therefore, the gap is now just two points once again.
