Inter Milan Aiming To Sell Italy International Midfielder In January

Inter Milan are aiming to sell out-of-favour Stefano Sensi during the January transfer window.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. The newspaper anticipate that the Nerazzurri want to cash in on the Italian while they have the chance.

One way or another, Sensi is not a player whose future at Inter looks likely to extend beyond the next few months.

The 28-year-old is under contract with the Nerazzurri until the end of June.

And the possibility of Inter offering a new deal to Sensi looks virtually nonexistent.

The question, however, could be whether the former Sassuolo midfielder departs even earlier than then.

For the next thirty days or so, there will be an opportunity for Inter to offload Sensi. They could potentially receive a small fee, and at the very least get his wages off of their books.

According to the Gazzetta, this move would be entirely possible.

The Nerazzurri don’t see much use in having Sensi in the squad, considering his playing time.

And getting the midfielder’s wages off the books – and getting in a small fee – would be welcome.

Stefano Sensi Could Leave Inter This Month

Sensi has been part of Inter’s first-team squad during the first part of the ongoing season.

The 28-year-old returned in the summer, following a season and a half out on loan.

In January of 2022, Sensi had made the move to Sampdoria on loan for half a season.

Then, last campaign, the Italian international spent one season on loan with Monza.

Given that the Brianzoli declined to exercise their option to sign Sensi on a permanent basis, however, the midfielder was back in Inter’s squad.

The Nerazzurri also kept Sensi around partly due to the fact that they needed midfield depth.

Roberto Gagliardini departed last summer, and Inter needed to replace the 28-year-old, at least numerically.

Lazar Samardzic had looked close to signing. But the Serb’s transfer fell through in dramatic fashion.

So Sensi remained, partly also due to a lack of acceptable offers from the perspective of either Inter.

But then the Nerazzurri also signed one more midfielder on deadline day – Dutch international Davy Klaassen on a free transfer from Ajax.

Klaassen has not featured much this season. But Sensi has played even less.

So a January departure would hardly be impossible for Sensi.

Inter would still have senior midfielders available even if the Italian were to leave, after all.
