Inter Milan will sell Denzel Dumfries in the summer if the two parties fail to reach an agreement over a contract renewal.

The Dutchman joined the club in the summer of 2021 as a direct replacement for Achraf Hakimi.

The 27-year-old has now cemented himself as a protagonist on the right flank. This season, he has thus far contributed with two goals and four assists in all competitions.

However, the wingback’s future remains hanging in the balance as long as he doesn’t ink a new contract.

The Netherlands international’s deal with the Nerazzurri will expire in June 2025.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport via FcInterNews, there’s still a considerable gap between the player’s request and the club’s offer.

Dumfries currently earns 2 million euros per season, but is asking for 5 million in yearly wages plus add-ons to renew his stay at Appiano Gentile,

On the other hand, Inter are only willing to pay him 4 million euros per year, especially following the abolition of the Growth Decree. Without tax reductions, the agreement will become significantly costlier for the Nerazzurri.

Therefore, the Serie A leaders have decided to sell Dumfries in the summer if he doesn’t renew his contract.

Inter Milan Will Either Renew The Contract Of Denzel Dumfries Or Sell Him In The Summer

The Nerazzurri are hellbent on avoiding a scenario reminiscent of the Milan Skriniar debacle. The Slovakian defender remained at the club until the expiry of his contract, which saw the club missing out on a major transfer fee,

Moreover, the arrival of Tajon Buchanan has provided Simone Inzaghi with an additional option on the right flank.

If the Canadian international manages to prove his worth at Inter in the next few months, parting ways with Dumfries would become an easier pill to swallow.
