Canadian winger Taon Buchanan is accelerating his preparations to start making an impact for Inter Milan soon.

Today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Inter acted fast to sign Buchanan in January. Given that he was seen as an emergency reinforcement, there was no waiting until the end of the January transfer window to wrap up a deal.

Buchanan is the replacement for Juan Cuadrado on the right flank.

The Colombian’s absence means that Inter have just Denzel Dumfries and Matteo Darmian in the right-wingback position.

And Buchanan is the player who the Nerazzurri have chosen to give the team a new attacking edge in the role.

So the Canadian could be on the pitch very soon. Very possibly as early as Saturday’s match against Monza.

But even so, the Gazzetta note, there’s still more than Buchanan has to do to get up to speed.

Tajon Buchanan Preparing To Make An Impact For Inter

Buchanan underwent his first training session as an Inter player yesterday.

That was an important step, as the 24-year-old is still gaining fitness.

Buchanan has not played a match since the tenth of last month. He has been left out of Club Brugge squads due to the strong transfer links with Inter.

Therefore, there is a month’s worth of match-fitness to regain.

That makes the next few training sessions crucial for Buchanan.

Moreover, Buchanan is not in training today. The Canadian is returning to Belgium one last time.

As a non-EU citizen, Buchanan must formally obtain his residency permit to live in Italy.

The Canadian is travelling to the Italian embassy in Brussels in order to do so today.

Once Buchanan gets that out of the way, all the bureaucratic aspects of his transfer will be out of the way.

Then, it will be a spring to get the 24-year-old up to speed physically as well as tactically.
