Former Nerazzurri duo Danilo D’Ambrosio and Roberto Gagliardini will start for Monza against Inter Milan this evening.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who also report that goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio will miss out through injury.

Over the past few years, there has been a well-trodden path between Inter and Monza in the transfer market.

The Brianzoli took advantage of their relationship with the Nerazzurri by signing youngsters like Di Gregorio and Lorenzo Pirola on loan whilst they were in Serie B.

The former joined on a permanent basis after helping Monza win promotion to the top flight. Meanwhile, the latter is currently a Salernitana player.

Inter also made the high-profile signing of wingback Carlos Augusto from Monza during the summer transfer.

However, the Brazilian was not the only player who moved from one club to another.

D’Ambrosio & Gagliardini To Start For Monza Vs Inter

Veteran defender D’Ambrosio, and former Atalanta midfielder Gagliardini were among a few players to have left Inter at the end of last June when their contracts expired.

The former had been an Inter player for nearly a decade.

However, Inter deemed D’Ambrosio to be surplus to requirements. And Monza felt that the 35-year-old could add an experienced presence in their backline.

D’Ambrosio has been a regular starter for the Brianzoli this season.

He has played on the right side of the back three. That is where he had been featuring during his last couple of seasons with Inter.

Meanwhile, 29-year-old Gagliardini also left Inter at the end of his own contract.

The Italian international viewed playing time as the priority for this season, having largely been a backup option.

Monza have offered Gagliardini that. The 29-year-old has been a fixture in the Brianzoli’s starting eleven like D’Ambrosio.

And both will be starting against Inter this evening, Tuttosport report.

They had both also been in the starting eleven for the first meeting between the two teams this campaign, which was the season opener in August.
