Since Argentinian international footballer Lautaro Martinez joined Italian Serie A side Inter Milan from Argentinian Primera Division Racing Club in July 2018, he has become one of Europe’s hottest prospects, even winning the World Cup for Argentina during his time at Inter.

He has continued improving as a player, winning many other accolades for club and country, with several major European clubs now interested in signing him.

The question being asked here is, can Inter afford to keep Martinez? Let’s dive in to find out.

Can Inter Milan afford to keep Lautaro Martinez?

According to the ‘experts,’ Argentinian forward Lautaro Martinez is currently worth in the region of €110,000,000 (value last updated in late December 2023), making him one of the most expensive footballers in the world.

The 26-year-old is said to be on around €210,000 (approx. £183,000) per week. With all the bonuses, sponsorship deals and other add-ons, he earns somewhere in the region of €11,000,000 (approx. £9,516,000) per year.

Some people believe that Inter Milan simply cannot afford to keep him at the club for too much longer, meaning he could soon leave. Speculation mounted in recent weeks when he failed to put pen to paper and renew his contract.

If Lautaro Martinez Leaves Inter Milan, Where Will He Go?

Again, it’s all just speculation, but there are a lot of rumors swirling around the internet saying that the goal-scoring machine will more than likely end up in the Premier League. Both Arsenal and Chelsea are showing interest in his services.

Both clubs could easily afford him. Thus, there’s a good chance he will make the switch from Italy to England. But whether that is in January 2024 in the current transfer window or in the summer transfer window is anybody’s guess.

Can Inter Milan Win The 2023/24 Serie A Title?

Inter Milan are currently at the top of the Serie A table with 48 points after 19 games played. They are 2 points above second-place Juventus and 9 points above third-place AC Milan.

To find out whether Inter Milan can win the current 2023/24 campaign, the best thing to do would be to look at the latest odds on well-established online sports betting sites such as the official Unibet website.

The good news for Inter fans is that they are currently the odds-on favourite team to win Serie A outright. They have been given odds of around 1.30 in the decimal odds format. Therefore, Inter has a whopping 76.90% implied probability rate (IPR) of actually achieving this.

In the UK fractional odds format, 1.30 is 3/10, and in the American/moneyline odds format, 1.30 is -333. In comparison, the odds for the two other teams most likely to win Serie A this year, Juventus and AC Milan, are the following:

  • Team: Juventus. Decimal odds: 3.75. Fractional odds: 11/4. American/moneyline odds: +275. IPR: 26.70%
  • Team: AC Milan. Decimal odds: 23.00. Fractional odds: 22/1. American/moneyline odds: +2,200. IPR: 4.30%

In other words, although no bets are guaranteed, Inter Milan to win the 2023/24 Serie A title is a relatively safe bet.
