Italian journalist Luigi Garlando feels that yesterday’s Supercoppa Italiana win over Lazio was Inter Milan’s best performance under Simone Inzaghi.

Garlando hailed the Nerazzurri’s performance in his column in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Inter have certainly had their ups and downs under Simone Inzaghi.

The Nerazzurri have played many subpar matches under the 47-year-old. And also many brilliant ones.

The former Lazio coach has a fairly clear vision of football.

Beyond the 3-5-2 system that is his trademark, Inzaghi has tried to make Inter a very high-tempo, proactive team in how they move the ball from one end of the pitch to the other.

And against Inzaghi’s old team the Biancocelesti, Inter gave a perfect demonstration of what Inzaghi wants from his team.

Supercoppa Win Vs Lazio “Best Inter Performance Of The Inzaghi Era”

Garlando argued that yesterday evening’s match was “Perhaps the best performance of the Inzaghi era,” for Inter.

He continues that “Simone’s team attacked right from the first minute. And they didn’t stop until the last.”

“They gave us three goals (from Thuram, Calhanoglu, and Frattesi) and never considered slowing down, being more cautious, or managing the game.”

Garlando notes that “If Mazzarri’s Napoli on Thursday offered the Saudi fans an almost archaeological representation of Italian football (defend deep and counterattack), yesterday the Nerazzurri illustrated the evolution of the species.”

“They played very attacking football, in a more international manner.”

Garlando also notes a particular detail that puts Inter in very high-level company in Europe.

“One key fact,” he writes. “Inter are the only team along with Real Madrid and Manchester City to have three players already in double figures.”

“Lautaro (20), Calhanoglu (11), and Thuram (10),” Garlando lists.

“They can measure themselves against the very best in European,” the journalist argues of the Nerazzurri.
