The Italian Referee Association (AIA) have appointed Gianluca Aureliano as the designated match official for the weekend encounter between Fiorentina and Inter Milan.

FcInterNews posted the entire refereeing designations for the Serie A weekend, including Sunday night’s fixture between the Viola and the Nerazzurri.

Both clubs took part in the Italian Super Cup tournament that was recently held in Riyadh.

But while Fiorentina returned home early following an agonizing 0-3 defeat at the hands of Napoli, Inter clinched the trophy for the third year running. They prevailed over the Partneopei in Monday’s final thanks to Lautaro Martinez’s late winner.

Nevertheless, both sides will be eager to resume league action with a positive result.

Referee Aureliano will thus be in charge of what could transpire into a genuine battle in front of the raucous Artemio Franchi crowd.

Gianluca Aureliano Will Be The Match Official For Fiorentina Vs Inter Milan Serie A Contest

The 43-year-old officiated six previous Serie A fixtures this season. However, none featured Inter or Fiorentina.

His most high-profile outing was the 1-1 draw between AS Roma and Atalanta at the Stadio Olimpico earlier this month.

In his six appearances as a match official this season, Aureliano handed 30 yellow cards. However, he has yet to show the red card. He also awarded penalty kicks on a couple of occasions.

The Bologna native will be joined by Imperiale and Vecchi who will serve as linesmen.

Giua will be the fourth official, while Marini will be in the VAR boost, with Doveri acting as his assistant.
