Italian giants Inter Milan are one of the biggest clubs in football. As such, over the years, Inter have made some of the finest signings in the Beautiful Game.

Many have also gone on to become club legends after recording notable success in Italy’s global capital of fashion and design.

Inter Have Always Been A Big Pull For Players

The club faces stiffer competition these days, however in the past, when Inter Milan came calling, top players struggled to turn down the opportunity to play for one of Italy’s most esteemed clubs. Title-challenging English players for sides that are heavily favoured in Premier League winner odds, like Manchester City at 4/6, would jump at the chance to play for Inter. The institution appealed to world-class professionals.

Additionally, alongside watching classic shows like Channel 4’s Football Italia and making the most of any football betting tips before having a flutter, these same superstar talents would command huge audiences who wanted to supplement their TV show binges and betting escapades by watching the game’s biggest and best stars turn it on in an Inter Milan shirt.

Romelu Lukaku is perhaps the perfect modern-day example here, particularly as he enjoyed a more fruitful spell in Italy.

The Belgian striker isn’t the only top player to swap a major competition like the Premier League for pastures new at Inter, though. In fact, before Lukaku’s move to the club for €80 million, a plethora of maestros shone at Inter.

Ronaldo Is The Best Player Ever For Some

It’s impossible to ignore Ronaldo’s impact at Inter and his influence on the sport as a whole. At a time when the Serie A could afford to snap up the best players in their peak years, Ronaldo’s signing from Barcelona for €26.50 million was a huge addition in 1997.

The Brazilian striker’s natural ability with the ball at his feet made him one of the most entertaining attackers to watch.

As the star of the team, he only helped to deliver one major trophy during his time at the club, but the 1998 UEFA Cup triumph would surely have been supplemented by a range of other trophies had he not suffered a serious knee injury that disrupted his progress.

Still, what a fantastic player Ronaldo was to watch. For many Inter Milan fans, he’s the best they’ve ever seen, despite his move to arch-rivals AC Milan in 2007.

Wesley Sneijder Was A Technician In Midfield

With a penchant for orchestrating things from the middle of the pitch, Wesley Sneijder is another unforgettable star who stood out on numerous occasions while playing for the club.

The Dutchman signed for €15 million from Real Madrid in 2009. The Spanish giants’ loss was most definitely Inter Milan’s gain.

Real opted to go with players like Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema instead. However, it ultimately backfired as Sneijder played an integral role in Inter winning a treble that included the Champions League during the 2009/10 campaign.

Some Honourable Mentions

We can’t feature every top addition throughout Inter’s rich history, but there are some acquisitions we simply couldn’t leave out.

For starters, Samuel Eto’o was immense for Inter Milan following his transfer from Barcelona. The move occurred after Barcelona paid €46 million for Inter’s Swedish star Zlatan Ibrahimovic with the Cameroonian star as part of the deal.

Likewise, Walter Samuel and Julio Cesar are two Inter icons, particularly as they didn’t cost big bucks. Both players formed an integral part of Inter’s resolute defence at the time.

Additionally, the dependable Esteban Cambiasso being snapped up on a free from Real Madrid in 2004 was a master stroke.

Inter Milan fans have certainly been treated to some special performances over the years, that’s for sure.
