Former Lazio sporting director Igli Tare considers Inter Milan genuine Champions League contenders while lauding Simone Inzaghi.

The 50-year-old insists that the Nerazzurri have the most formidable squad in Italian football, Thus, he considers them the big favorites to clinch the Scudetto title at the end of the season.

Nevertheless, Tare notes that playing a single match per week can be a valuable advantage for Juventus

“Inter remains the team to beat because they have made an important transfer campaign and are very strong. However, everything will be decided in March,” noted the Albanian in his interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews.

“The Nerazzurri will now face tough opponents like Fiorentina, Juve, Roma and Atalanta. They also have Atletico Madrid in the Champions League. They will have to withstand a packed schedule.

“Preparing one match a week until April is a nice advantage for Juventus. They will try to break away or at least remain in the mix until the end of the season.

“In terms of quality alternatives, Inter have no equal. But this advantage, at least in Serie A, ends up disappearing if you play every three days and have the round of 16 and maybe then the quarter-finals of the Champions League.”

Igli Tare Considers Inter Milan Among Champions League Favorites

The former striker also identifies Inter as one of the main runners for the European crown alongside Manchester City and Bayern Munich.

“I put Inter alongside Bayern and Man City among the favorites to win the Champions League.”

Tare also heaped praise on his former Lazio teammate Simone Inzaghi. The duo also worked side-by-side for several years in the capital following their respective retirements.

The Albanian served as a sporting director for the Biancocelesti while the Italian earned his first managerial role.

“Simone is one of the top coaches in the world. He knows how to manage the double weekly commitment. He confirmed it in the Super Cup.

“Inzaghi puts the players in their right positions and makes them perform at their best levels.”
