Atalanta will not be allowing reported Inter Milan target Luis Muriel to leave during the January transfer window.

Italian news outlet Calciomeracato.com report that La Dea will not consider offers for the Colombian despite his contract situation.

There are still a few days left to go before the January transfer window slams shut.

That means that Inter could have the opportunity to make a surprise last-minute signing.

The only area in which there have been any rumours of a possible move from the Nerazzurri is in attack.

The relatively unconvincing performances of Marko Arnautovic and Alexis Sanchez so far during the campaign have led to some speculation that the Nerazzurri could try and sign a different backup striker.

But Inter hardly have the cash to go out and make a big money signing in attack,

Particular after the investment to bring Tajon Buchanan to the club.

So if the Nerazzurri were to make a signing this month, it would have to be an “opportunistic” one. For example, a loan move, or very low-cost deal.

Atalanta Won’t Let Inter Linked Luis Muriel Leave This Month

One player who had come up as a possible target for Inter in attack is veteran striker Muriel.

The former Sampdoria, Sevilla, and Fiorentina would basically fit the bill for the “opportunistic” profile.

Muriel is Serie A-proven. His contract with Atalanta runs out at the end of June – so he wouldn’t be very expensive at all.

And La Dea already have several other attacking options in their squad.

So there had been some reports that Inter were monitoring Muriel’s situation.

If Atalanta were to decide that they would offload Muriel this month, either because they wanted to get rid of his wages or because the player asked to leave, Inter could have swooped.

However, CM report, that is not Atalanta’s plan.

La Dea have no intention of selling Muriel in the final few days of the window.

That does not mean that there is any progress on the front of a potential new contract for the Colombian at the Gewiss Arena.

However, Atalanta would prefer to simply let Muriel leave at the end of his deal in the summer rather than giving him up this month.
