Juventus are looking to sign either Fiorentina’s Giacomo Bonaventura or Udinese’s Roberto Pereyra before facing Inter Milan.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.
There are still a couple days left to go in the January transfer window.
And for Juventus, the remaining priority before the window slams shut would be to bolster the midfield.
Over the first half of the campaign, the Bianconeri have looked a bit thin on the ground in central areas.
Especially after the long-term suspensions to the likes of Nicolo Fagioli (for betting) and Paul Pogba (for doping).
Therefore, the Gazzetta anticipate, the Bianconeri will aim for one more signing in midfield.
Juventus have let much of the transfer window pass them by without signing a midfielder.
But they are now preparing to make a very late move.
Juventus Aim To Sign Bonaventura Or Pereyra Ahead Of Inter Clash
The Gazzetta report that the Bianconeri’s intention would be to bring in a relatively low-cost veteran player who would have plenty of experience in Serie A.
One target in this respect would be Fiorentina midfielder Bonaventura.
The 34-year-old former AC Milan and Atalanta midfielder would certainly bring with him no shortage of experience and proven quality in the Italian top flight.
And on the other hand, the Gazzetta report, the Bianconeri could also bring back a familiar face.
Argentine international Pereyra is currently at Udinese. But he has also played for the likes of Juventus in Serie A and Watford in the Premier League.
Pereyra had even been on Inter’s radar last summer as a free transfer.
Juventus will certainly have to move fast if they want to sign a midfielder before the end of the window.
And if they do, then that player will be available for their next match – a Serie A title showdown against Inter.
