Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi is yet to decide between Denzel Dumfries and Matteo Darmian to start against Juventus this weekend.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.
By and large, Inzaghi has already made his selection decisions for the Derby d’Italia on Monday.
The coach will certainly want to put out his strongest possible starting eleven. There will obviously be no thought of squad rotation in a match that could potentially be a title-decider.
That means that in midfield, Hakan Calhanoglu and Nicolo Barella will return to the team alongside Henrikh Mkhitaryan after serving their suspensions.
And in defense, it will be the trio of Benjamin Pavard, Alessandro Bastoni, and Francesco Acerbi.
Captain Lautaro Martinez and summer signing Marcus Thuram will lead the line in attack.
And in goal, Yann Sommer will certainly keep his run going of starting every match in Serie A this season.
Inzaghi Still Deciding Between Dumfries & Darmian To Start Vs Juventus
On the left flank, Federico Dimarco will come back into the lineup.
The Italian international was left out of the team against Fiorentina last Sunday. Brazilian former Monza wingback Carlos Augusto played the full ninety minutes.
But Dimarco will certainly get the nod over Augusto next Sunday at the San Siro.
On the other flank, however, Inzaghi is still thinking about who he will start.
Matteo Darmian has started in each of Inter’s last four matches between Serie A and the Coppa Italia.
And the 34-year-old is certainly a candidate to start in the Derby d’Italia as well.
But on the other hand, Dumfries is also in contention.
The last match that the Dutchman started was against Hellas Verona in the league at the start of this month.
Since then, some fitness issues have kept Dumfries out of the team. The former PSV wingback has not quite been at his best since returning from a thigh problem.
But Dumfries is starting to find optimal physical condition.
And the 27-year-old could start against the Bianconeri this Sunday.
