Inter Milan and Leicester City are reportedly working on finalizing the transfer of Stefano Sensi before the expiry of the January Mercato.

The Foxes have been trying to lure the Italian midfielder to the East Midlands for weeks now. However, the negotiations have dragged on until deadline day.

Nevertheless, all parties remain eager to put the deal over the line just in time before the market’s closure.

According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, the two clubs are currently ironing out the last details.

Once the two sides reach an agreement, Sensi will fly to England to sign his contract with the Championship leaders.

The transfer guru reveals that Inter will collect a bonus of 2.5 million euros if Leicester secure promotion to the Premier League.

This feels like a likely scenario as the Foxes currently lead the Championship table with 10 points separating them from their closest chasers.

The 28-year-old will be looking to reignite his career on the English shores.

The former Sassuolo man joined the Nerazzurri in the summer of 2019. However, recurring injury problems derailed his career.

Last summer, he returned to Appiano Gentile following a loan stint at Monza. However, he found himself at the bottom of Simone Inzaghi’s pecking order, with six other midfielders ahead of him.

Sensi only managed to make four substitute appearances across all competitions. But he’ll be looking to make up for it by establishing himself as a protagonist at Leicester.

Manager Enzo Maresca is Sensi’s main sponsor at Leicester, He’s eager to work alongside his compatriot and help the club earn a swift return to the Premier League.
