Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi has decided to start Matteo Darmian on the right and Hakan Calhanoglu and Nicolo Barella against Juventus. This evening’s Serie A clash is scheduled for 20.45 CET.
Not surprisingly, Inzaghi has opted for what he sees as his strongest possible lineup this evening.
That means a total of four changes to the team.
Two of these are players returning from suspension. Calhanoglu and Barella had missed last weekend’s match against Fiorentina due to accumulation of yellow cards.
However, the pair are back. Therefore, they form the starting midfield trio this evening alongside Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
Then, in goal, it is former Bayern Munich veteran Yann Sommer.
Therefore, Sommer continues his record of starting every match in Serie A this season.
In front of the 35-year-old, the trio of Francesco Acerbi, Alessandro Bastoni, and Benmjamin Pavard.
Acerbi is back in the team after only being a substitute against Fiorentina. Accordingly, it is Stefan de Vrij who drops out of the team.
Matteo Darmian & Federico Dimarco Start On The Flanks
On the right flank, Inzaghi has opted for 34-year-old former Manchester United defender Matteo Darmian.
Therefore, Denzel Dumfries starts on the bench for the fifth match in a row.
Meanwhile, on the opposite flank it is Federico Dimarco. The Italian international comes back into the team at left-wingback, having not featured against Fiorentina.
Therefore, Carlos Augusto has to settle for a place on the bench.
And then in attack there are no surprises. Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram lead the line in the Derby d’Italia.
Only one player is missing for Inter due to injury. Juan Cuadrado continues to recover from tendon surgery, and will play no part against his former team Juventus.
Meanwhile, Stefano Sensi is in the squad, having seen his move to Leicester City fall through.
