Inter Milan striker Marcus Thuram will once again hope to “chase away the ghosts” of Nerazzurri past against Roma this evening.
Today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, highlight the potential for another decisive turn by the Frenchman.
The last time that Inter and Roma met in Serie A this season had been at the San Siro.
That match had seen the return of Romelu Lukaku take top billing. The Belgian had been at the centre of a real transfer soap opera during the summer, and the Inter faithful were always going to let him know how they felt.
Nerazzurri fans jeered Lukaku using thousands of whistles.
The big question looked to be whether or not Lukaku could overcome this narrative and play a decisive role for his current team to get a result against his former one.

In the end, Lukaku was not able to have anything like the kind of performance he would have hoped for on his controversial return to the San Siro.
The 30-year-old put in a largely anonymous display.
On the other hand, Thuram had one of his biggest moments yet in an Inter shirt.
The 26-year-old, who has gone from strength to strength since joining Inter on a free transfer last summer, scored the decisive goal.
With the scoreline still 0-0 as the clock passed eighty minutes, Thuram showed his lethal instinct in the penalty area.
Now, the Frenchman will hope he can do something similar in the more hostile territory of the Stadio Olimpico.
And Lukaku isn’t the only “ghost” the Nerazzurri will hope Thuram can chase away.
There is also Paulo Dybala. The Argentine had looked to be right on the verge of joining Inter in the summer of 2021.
But instead, Dybala ended up joining Roma.
Like Lukaku, Dybala is a “ghost” Inter will not want to regret. And Thuram will feel he’s the player to show the Nerazzurri that they made the right decision after all.
