The AIA have appointed Marco Piccinini as the match official in charge of the Serie A encounter between Inter Milan and Salernitana.

The Nerazzurri will host the Granata on Friday night in a meeting between the league leaders and the team that resides at the very bottom of the table.

While many were anticipating a touchline battle between two brothers, Simone Inzaghi’s elder sibling Filippo was fired following Salernitana’s defeat against Empoli last weekend. Fabio Liverani arrived as a replacement.

According to FcInterNews, Piccinini will be the referee in charge at the Giuseppe Meazza on Friday night.

This will be the 40-year-old’s ninth Serie A fixture this season. However, he has yet to officiate a Nerazzurri match this term.

On the other hand, Piccinini acted as the match official in Salernitana’s 1-1 draw against Frosinone in Round 5.

Marco Piccinini Will Be The Match Official In The Serie A Fixture Between Inter Milan & Salernitana

During his eight previous Serie A outings this season, the Forli native handed 33 yellow cards.

He showed the red card on two occasions, both in the encounter between Genoa and AC Milan back in October. The ref dismissed the two goalkeepers Mike Maignan and Josep Martinez late in the match. This prompted Olivier Giroud to famously stand between the sticks.

Moreover, Cecconi and Rossi will assist Piccinini in his mission, serving as linesmen.

Camplone will act as the fourth official while Marco Serra will be in the VAR booth with Valeri as his assistant.

The fixture kicks off on Friday at 9:00 p.m. CET.
