Simone Inzaghi feels that Inter Milan could have gotten an even bigger win over Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.

The Nerazzurri coach gave his thoughts in a press conference after the 1-0 victory, as reported by FCInterNews.

Inzaghi and Inter got the result that they hoped for in the first leg of their round of sixteen tie against Atletico.

The Nerazzurri got the win and an advantage to hold onto in the second leg.

But yesterday’s match was only half the tie.

And the advantage that Inter gave themselves is anything but a big one.

Inter scored just one goal despite creating a few good chances. This means that the tie is certainly in the balance when the team travel to Madrid next month.

But in terms of the performance, Inzaghi feels that it was an emphatic one.

The 47-year-old feels that his team would have deserved to win by a wider scoreline.

Inzaghi: Inter Could’ve Won By Wider Margin Vs Atletico Madrid

“We played a great match,” Inzaghi said.

“I’ll have to review the match,” he continued. “But my first impression was that we conceded very little.”

“Despite Sommer not having to make any saves, we allowed a couple good opportunities in the second half. But we would have deserved to win by an even bigger scoreline.”

“But we faced a top-class team who will do everything to win in the second leg.”

The Nerazzurri coach also praised striker Marko Aranutovic, the team’s match-winner on the night.

“He will be precious to us, as he already has been up to this point,” the coach said of the Austrian.

“I’m happy with both he and Sanchez and how they’re playing,” Inzaghi went on.

“They have to keep going the way they have been. They’ll certainly get more minutes.”

“Arna did very well when he came on,” Inzaghi said.

“It’s too bad about the wasted chances. But strikers should worry less when they’re wasting chances than when the chances aren’t coming.”
