Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi has decided to start Nicolo Barella in midfield, and Benjamin Pavard and Alessandro Bastoni in defense against Atalanta. This evening’s Serie A matchday 21 clash kicks off at 21.45 CET.
The big team news this evening concerns the return of some big names to the lineup.
Therefore, Inzaghi has made six changes in total to the team that beat Lecce over the weekend.
Firstly, Yann Sommer is back in the team.
The Swiss had missed the away trip to Lecce through illness, with Emil Audero replacing him. However, he is once again ready to start.
Secondly, in defense it is Stefan de Vrij starting in the centre of a back three.
However, alongside the Dutchman Inzaghi has changed things up from the Lecce match.
Accordingly, both of Yann Bisseck and Carlos Augusto drop to the match. Therefore, Pavard and Bastoni, two regular starters, regain their place in the team.
Thirdly in midfield, Inzaghi has made one change to the team that beat Lecce.
Italian international Davide Frattesi drops to the bench. Therefore, it is his fellow Italian international Barella who replaces him.
Then, on the flanks, Inzaghi has kept Federico Dimarco in the team on the left.
But on the right, it’s another change. Veteran former Manchester United and Torino defender Matteo Darmian takes the place of Denzel Dumfries.
Marko Arnautovic Replaces Alexis Sanchez In Attack
Lastly, in attack Inzaghi has made one more change.
Former Bologna, West Ham United, and Stoke City striker Marko Arnautovic comes into attack.
Arnautovic plays alongside Inter captain Lautaro Martinez in attack. Marcus Thuram remains out with a thigh injury.
Therefore, Alexis Sanchez has to settle for a place on the bench after seeing out the full ninety minutes against Lecce.
Meanwhile, there are three big injury absences for Inter – Thuram, Francesco Acerbi, and Hakan Calhanoglu.
Then, Juan Cuadrado continues to recover from tendon surgery. And midfielder Stefano Sensi is also out with injury.
