Hakan Calhanoglu isn’t getting carried away with any talk of Inter Milan clinching the Serie A title against his old side AC Milan.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, the 30-year-old didn’t want to say too much about the prospect of revenge on his former team of a sort.

Inter are now twelve points ahead of Juventus at the top of the Serie A table.

The Nerazzurri have not mathematically clinched the title yet. But they are certainly heading in that direction with the size of their advantage.

This could lead to some speculation as to when Inter will make certain of being champions, presuming that they do so.

It will likely still be a few weeks.

Unless Inter maintain their perfect start to 2024 and Juventus keep slipping up, the Bianconeri should maintain at least a technical chance of winning the title for at least a little while.

The decisive advantage could arrive sometime towards the end of April, based on form.

Hakan Calhanoglu: “Calm Down” On Talks Of Inter Clinching Title Vs AC Milan

On April 21st, Inter face Milan in the second derby of the season.

The two teams previously met in September. Inter won that match by an emphatic scoreline of 5-1.

And that match will be in front of largely a Rossoneri-supporting crowd, as they are nominally the “home” team at the San Siro.

If Inter were to clinch the Scudetto in front of the Milan faithful, it would certainly have a particular significance for Inter midfielder Calhanoglu.

The Turk joined Inter from Milan in 2021. Inter were champions when he joined. And in Calhanoglu’s first season at Inter, it was his old team the Rossoneri who won the title.

The Milan players aimed some jibes at Calhanoglu for that fact. As did the fans.

So a title-clinching result against Milan could certainly be a significant personal moment for the 30-year-old.

But when this was pointed out, Calhanoglu simply replied, “Calm down.”
