Italian journalist feels that Inter Milan decisively showed their superiority to Juventus in the Serie A title race with a head-to-head win.

Padovan analyzed the two sides in yesterday’s print edition of Naples-based newspaper Il Mattino, via FCInter1908.

Discussions of the Serie A title picture at this stage are only centring around one team: Inter.

There is a clear reason for that. The Nerazzurri are now twelve points clear at the top of the table.

But just a few weeks ago, things looked very different.

Juventus had been keeping pace with Inter at the top end of the table.

There were at times no more than a point separating the two rivals.

But the Bianconeri have dropped off significantly over the past number of weeks. And Inter, by contrast, have only gone from strength to strength, not dropping points since the start of 2024.

So it is now very much the Nerazzurri who are in the driver’s seat in the title race.

Padovan: Inter Showed Superiority To Juventus In Head-To-Head Win

Perhaps not coincidentally, there was a head-to-head match between Inter and Juventus last month.

That match had the air of a potential title-decider at the time. After all, it pitted first and second in the Serie A table.

Adding that to the sense of occasion that always surrounds clashes between the Nerazzurri and the Bianconeri in the Derby d’Italia, it certainly was a match with a sense of occasion.

But whilst the match ended 1-0 to Inter, that scoreline did not fully reflect the Nerazzurri’s dominance.

It was a statement result that really seemed to take the wind out the sails of their main rivals.

Journalist Padovan noted of Juventus that “I had considered them the favourites for the the title.”

“They had no European football, fewer matches. Therefore, fewer injuries.”

“But then instead, the head-to-head match against Inter made it clear that this team is not there yet.”

He added that the Bianconeri’s Sporting Director Cristano Giuntoli “Still has a lot of work left to do.”
