Inter Milan will meet with the agent of their captain Lautaro Martinez for contract talks today in Madrid.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews. The newspaper anticipate that the club will attempt to negotiate close to the Argentine’s demands of €9 million net per season wages.
At the moment, Martinez has not yet put pen to paper on a contract extension with Inter.
The most recent extension that the Argentine signed was in the fall of 2021. That is the deal he is currently on, until the end of June 2026.
It has not necessarily been for any lack of trying on Inter’s part.
The Nerazzurri have been in talks with Martinez and his representatives for a number of months now.
Reportedly, Inter had hoped to have everything sorted out by January. But this did not prove to be the case.
The problem – as Martinez’s agent has heavily hinted at – is that Inter’s offer is not yet high enough.
Inter To Meet With Agent Lautaro Martinez For Contract Talks
Inter will likely need to go higher in their offer if they are to convince Martinez and his representatives.
According to Tuttosport, the player’s demands sit at around €9 million per season plus add-ons.
That will be the matter up for discussion in the next meeting between Inter and Martinez’s agent Alejandro Camano.
And Tuttosport note that that meeting is now not far away.
Inter are in Madrid for the second leg of their Champions League tie against Atletico Madrid. Martinez’s agent Camano is also in the Spanish capital.
So there will be a new meeting between Inter and Camano.
The Nerazzurri are not exactly in a hurry. But they want to iron out a new deal for Martinez sooner or later, as there is always interest from other big European clubs in their captain’s signature.
