Wingback Tajon Buchanan could get his first start for Inter Milan in the Nerazzurri’s Serie A match against Empoli next week.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews. The newspaper anticipates more chances for younger players in the squad over the remainder of the season.

Canadian international wingback completed a move from Club Brugge to Inter in January.

But the 25-year-old has yet to start a match for the Nerazzurri in his first few months at the club.

Buchanan has had appearances off the bench. But he has not started a single match.

This reflects the settling-in process for Buchanan, who has had to adapt to the wingback role under Simone Inzaghi.

The Canadian has worked hard in training to find his footing in a new team and system.

But in the meantime, Inter coach Inzaghi has prioritized experience. The players who already know the formation well have gotten Inter into a commanding position in the Serie A table.

But now that Inter are a whopping fourteen points clear at the summit of the table, Inzaghi will rethink thinks.

The Corriere report that the coach is ready to start giving opportunities to younger players.

The priority will be shifted from this season to the next.

Of course, Inter still must get the job done. They have not clinched the Serie A title just yet and will aim to do so over the coming matches.

But Inzaghi is not just going to start the same eleven match in match out in order to prioritize results.

Rather, the Inter coach can experiment a bit – and integrate players who will be important next season.

These include Kristjan Asllani, Davide Frattesi, and Yann Bisseck.

And on the right flank, the Corriere report that Buchanan will certainly be getting his first start sooner rather than later.

In fact, the Canadian could even get the nod over Denzel Dumfries and Matteo Darmian against Empoli.
