Torino and Italy defender Alessandro Buongiorno is “reluctant” to consider a move to Juventus, but Inter Milan and AC Milan are keen.
This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews.
Buongiorno is likely to be one of the hot names on the market during the summer transfer window in Serie A.
The 24-year-old has emerged as one of the outstanding young defenders in the Italian top flight.
Buongiorno had previously been the subject of interest from Atalanta last summer.
However, the Italian international decided to remain at Torino, where he came through the youth ranks.
And Buongiorno has had a season of real growth. He has been a key player for the Granata at the back, with his physicality and man-marking ability a linchpin at the centre of the back three.
That means that it is looking unlikely that Torino can keep hold of Buongiorno for long.
And there would be many more clubs than Atalanta with an interest in the Italian international.
Buongiorno “Reluctant” To Consider Juventus – But Inter & AC Milan Keen
Naturally, Serie A’s biggest clubs are all eyeing up the possibility of signing Buongiorno.
And one of these is Torino’s city rivals Juventus.
Despite the derby rivalry between the two clubs, the path from the Granata to the Bianconeri is a fairly well-trodden one.
This is particularly the case for defenders.
Prior to Buongiorno this season, Torino’s two outstanding defenders in recent years had been Angelo Ogbonna and Bremer.
Both of the pair made the switch directly to Juventus. In the latter case, the Brazilian made the cross-city jump after having appeared to have been on the verge of joining Inter for much of the summer.
For Buongiorno, however, Tuttosport report that the 24-year-old would be “reluctant” to do so.
The Torino defender still feels a particular loyalty to his club. Therefore, he would not be altogether comfortable with the idea of a big move to their derby rivals.
On the other hand, making the step up to another top club would not be a problem for Buongiorno.
Inter’s interest is certainly real. The Nerazzurri would see Buongiorno as an ideal long-term successor to the likes of Francesco Aerbi and Stefan de Vrij in the centre of defense.
And Inter’s city rivals AC Milan see the 24-year-old as a target as well. The Rossoneri are plotting a defensive rebuild of their own.
Meanwhile, Tuttosport confirm, there is also interest in Buongiorno’s signature from the Premier League.
Reports suggest that Torino will want no less than €40 million for their young star defender.
