Inter Milan striker Marcus Thuram hopes that this season’s Serie A title triumph is “only the beginning” for the Nerazzurri.
The Frenchman spoke to US broadcaster CBS Sports, via FCInterNews. He gave his reaction as the team celebrated the Serie A title upon clinching it with a derby win over AC Milan.
Now it’s official – Inter are champions of Serie A for the 2023-24 season.
The Nerazzurri are, mathematically speaking, out of sight for every other team in the league table, with five matches to spare.
French international Thuram has more than had his role to play in his first season at Inter.
The 26-year-old joined the Nerazzurri on a free transfer last summer after his contract with Borussia Monchengladbach expired.
And far from needing a period of adaptation, Thuram has gone from strength to strength.
The Frenchman’s excellent goal in yesterday’s derby was just one more highlight in a season that’s been full of them.
Thuram has shone individually all season along. And Inter have looked outstanding as a team.
Now, the 26-year-old hopes that this can be a platform for even bigger things.
Inter Striker Marcus Thuram: Hope This Is Only The Beginning
Thuram reacted to the title win, “We wanted all this for the fans.”
“We’re proud and happy,” he continued.
The striker noted that “This is my first league title in Italy. I’m thrilled, and proud.”
“This has been a wonderful season. I have to thank the team for helping me to adapt quickly in a fantastic group, and it’s always felt easy in this fantastic season.”
“We’ve suffered defeats like in the Champions League. But I think this Scudetto is well-deserved.”
Thuram continued that “I want to thank, in addition to my parents, also Thierry Henry, for all the advice he’s given me.”
“I hope that this is just the beginning,” Thuram then said.
