Nerazzurri CEO Beppe Marotta has confirmed that Steven Zhang and Suning have every intention of staying at Inter Milan.

The Inter executive addressed the future of the club’s ownership situation while speaking to Italian broadcaster RAI Radio, via FCInterNews.

The future of Suning at Inter has been one of the big question marks lingering over the club in recent months.

The looming deadline of the Nerazzurri owners’ massive loan from US fund Oaktree Capital means that it has not been certain by any means that they would be in control past next month.

But recent developments seem to have clarified things.

Suning are planning to refinance their debt to Oaktree. They will do so through a new loan, from another US-based fund in the form of PIMCO.

And Inter’s CEO Marotta has given further confirmation that this is the plan.

Marotta: Suning Planning To Stay At Inter, No Revolution

Regarding the future of Suning at Inter, Marotta said that “The bottom line is what Steven [Zhang, Inter President] has said in recent days.”

“He’s talked about wanting to continue here. And my understanding is that he will do so calmly.”

“He will respect the deadline,” Marotta continued. “But there won’t be any revolutions.”

“He’s happy to continue on together. And so are we.”

“I believe that we have a winning model,” Marotta said.

“I use that presumptuous phrase that because in the end, in sport it’s not the case that whoever spends the most wins. We have certain values.”

“It’s presumptuous for me to say this, but it’s true.”

Meanwhile, Marotta contrasted the feeling of winning the Serie A title in the 2020-21 season with this campaign’s triumph.

“It’s a different feeling satisfaction,” the Inter CEO said. “But it’s strong in both cases.”

“The one with Conte was my first at Inter,” Marotta said of the 2020-21 title.

“It represented something that I didn’t think that I would be able to achieve so quickly.”

“The one with Inzaghi is beautiful, because it means that we win the second star, which will remain in history.”

Marotta called this “A kind of satisfaction that I’ve been looking for for years.”
