Tajon Buchanan won’t make his first start for Inter Milan against Sassuolo.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Corriere della Sera, via FCInterNews. The newspaper report that there are nevertheless zero doubts about Buchanan’s future.
Buchanan joined Inter from Club Brugge during the January transfer window.
However, as of yet, the 25-year-old Canadian international has yet to make a start.
That is not to say that Buchanan has not featured. He has made a total of six appearances for Inter since his arrival.
But all of these have been from the bench.
Buchanan has played a total of 54 minutes in Serie A so far.
This is in some ways par for the course for the position that Buchanan plays. The adaptation period for wingbacks in Inter coach Simone Inzaghi’s 3-5-2 system can be a long one.
But sooner or later, of course, Buchanan will get a start.
The last few matches of the season could be an opportunity for the Canadian to get valuable experience with a view to playing a more prominent role next campaign.
Tajon Buchanan Won’t Get First Inter Start Vs Sassuolo
The first start for Buchanan won’t come against Sassuolo this evening, however.
The Canadian international will remain on the bench for this evening’s Serie A match away in Emilia-Romagna.
However, the Corriere della Sera reports, that does not mean that there are any doubts about Buchanan’s future at Inter or the club’s faith in the former Club Brugge man.
Rather, the priority is simply to have a slow bedding-in process for Buchanan.
As the Corriere della Sera notes, Inter signed the 25-year-old for a reason.
And nothing in training or in his appearances from the bench so far have caused the Nerazzurri any regrets.
However, it will just be a matter of waiting for the right moment in which to give Buchanan the right opportunity.
