This summer, Inter Milan could sell Denzel Dumfries to raise the cash to sign Albert Gudmundsson.

This according to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews. Mediaset report that the Dutchman would be the prime candidate for a big sale at Inter this summer.

Inter are dreaming of a move for Genoa forward Albert Gudmundsson this summer.

That is no secret. There have been the Nerazzurri and the Icelandic international for weeks now.

But the question of how to make a signing of Gudmundsson viable is a big one for Inter.

The Nerazzurri will see Alexis Sanchez leave this summer, and Mehdi Taremi replace the Chilean.

Then there is the starting pair of Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram.

Meanwhile, Mediaset report, it is not all that likely that Marko Arnautovic will leave the Nerazzurri during the summer transfer window. The reason for this is the Austrian’s age and high wages.

And then there is the possibility of Joaquin Correa returning from his loan at Marseille.

Therefore, there is work to do for Inter to make room in the squad for Gudmundsson.

Dumfries Likely Canadidate To Leave Inter To Fund Gudmundsson Move

Then, there is the matter of Genoa’s asking price for Gudmundsson.

The Grifone reportedly want no less than 30 million for the 26-year-old. Likely, they will aim for even higher.

That is hardly a small fee considering that Inter will have to fund any incoming transfer business with sales.

Therefore, the Nerazzurri would have to make a big sale in order to afford Gudmundsson.

The smaller sales of fringe players and players currently out on loan likely wouldn’t be sufficient.

And according to Mediaset, there is a clear candidate in this regard.

Dumfries is already a player whose future at Inter is uncertain. The Dutchman is out of contract at the end of next summer – so Inter want to either extend his deal, or sell him this summer.

And the Nerazzurri would likely aim for a fee for Dumfries that would be right around what they would end up paying for Gudmundsson.
