Simone Inzaghi wants Inter Milan to sign another striker this summer.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. The Gazzetta report that the Nerazzurri coach will make his priority clear to the club for the transfer window.

Later this month, Inzaghi and the Inter directors will sit down for a very important meeting.

As they do every year around this time in May, the architects of the club’s transfer strategy will lay out what their priorities are.

The next few months will see Inter have plenty of opportunities to reinforce the squad, chopping and changing with new signings and sales.

The most important aspect may be to keep the existing team together as much as possible.

After all, Inter just romped to the Serie A title in dominant fashion. There is the sense that there is more to come from this group of players.

But that does not mean that there are no areas in which Inter can strengthen.

And according to the Gazzetta, there is one position in particular in which Inzaghi feels a signing would be necessary.

Simone Inzaghi Makes Signing A Striker The Priority For Inter This Summer

This season, Inter have had four senior strikers in the squad – Lautaro Martinez, Marcus Thuram, Alexis Sanchez, and Marko Arnautovic.

And the hierarchy has been quite clear. Martinez and Thuram have been the first-choice starters, while Sanchez and Arnautovic have provided veteran backup options.

For Inter coach Inzaghi, this setup has not always been sufficient.

Particularly when one or two of the strikers have been out with an injury, the attack has quickly gotten stretched thin.

Therefore, Inzaghi wants to see Inter add another forward who can give the squad greater depth.

Particularly with the extra matches from the new Champions League format and the Club World Cup, the Nerazzurri coach wants as many options as possible in attack.
