Legendary former Nerazzurri captain Beppe Bergomi feels Inter Milan have “never reached this level in their history.”

The 1982 World Cup winner showered praise on the current Nerazzurri team while speaking on Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews.

This season, Inter have romped to the Serie A title.

Domestically, two losses against Sassuolo are perhaps the closest thing to a real black mark on the Nerazzurri’s season in the league.

In the Coppa Italia and the Champions League there have been disappointing round of sixteen exits.

But Inter won the Supercoppa Italiana for the third season running.

And the team not only achieved their main objective of winning the Serie A title.

The Nerazzurri clinched the title for the twentieth time in their history in absolutely dominant fashion.

Inter made mathematically certain of finishing the season as champions with five matches to go. They did so in the derby against city rivals AC Milan.

The Rossoneri are currently eighteen points adrift of Inter. And then the likes of Juventus, Napoli, Lazio, Roma, and Atalanta are even further back.

Beppe Bergomi: Inter “Have Never Reached This Level”

And Inter’s season hasn’t just about results and numbers.

The Nerazzurri have also played a brand of football that has made them look virtually impossible to stop at times.

Legendary former Inter defender Bergomi commented that “All the big teams want to win titles.”

Inter have won plenty of trophies in their history,” he continued.

“But they’ve never done so reaching this level of play in their history.”

Bergomi argued that “I can’t remember Inter getting to this level in terms of their peak the way this one does.”

“This shows that the club believes it can win based on a style of play.”

The former Inter captain said that “I can think of the Inter that won the Treble. My own Inter as well.”

“None have played the way this one does.”
