Inter Milan prefer a move for Genoa forward Albert Gudmundsson over one for Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee this summer.

This according to Turin-based newspaper La Stampa, via FCInter1908.

Recent reports indicate that Inter have decided to sign a striker during the upcoming summer transfer window.

Even with the arrival of Mehdi Taremi from Porto, the Nerazzurri do not feel that their squad has enough depth and versatility in attack.

Therefore, Inter will try and reinforce the attack with one more attacking signing.

The big question, then, is who the Nerazzurri will move for.

And there have been two particularly notable names at the centre of the most prominent rumours.

And they have been among the standout players in Serie A this season.

Genoa forward Gudmundsson has scored fourteen goals and made three assists in the league this season. Bologna’s Zirkzee, meanwhile, has found the back of the net twelve times and assisted a further four.

Inter Prefer Albert Gudmundsson To Joshua Zirkzee

Both Gudmundsson and Zirkzee would certainly be ambitious transfer targets for Inter.

According to La Stampa, the Nerazzurri are in fact leaning in a particular direction. That of Gudmundsson.

For starters, Inter believe that they would be able to find an agreement with Genoa on the Icelander’s signature.

The Nerazzurri could aim to make an offer similar to that which allowed them to sign Davide Frattesi from Sassuolo last summer. In other words, a loan containing a purchase obligation.

Moreover, La Stampa note, Inter consider Gudmundsson’s profile to be unique.

The 26-year-old former AZ Alkmaar man is an adept dribbler, able to manoeuvre the ball in tight spaces.

That is of no small importance to Inter. If there is one thing that the current Nerazzurri squad lacks, it is that sort of technical quality.

Therefore, La Stampa indicate, Inter would prefer to move for Gudmundsson over Zirkzee.
