Simone Inzaghi has made Albert Gudmundsson the priority target for Inter Milan this summer transfer window.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Within the next couple weeks, Inter should hold a meeting to discuss their transfer strategy for this summer.

That meeting will include the club’s directors Beppe Marotta, Piero Ausilio, and Dario Baccin. And of course, Nerazzurri coach Inzaghi will also have his say.

And according to the Corriere, Inzaghi already knows what he wants.

Perhaps the biggest priority of all, above any signings, is that Inter not make any big sales.

Of course players will depart. But Inzaghi wants the core of the team intact.

That means that the 48-year-old will not accept the possibility of sales of players such as Nicolo Barella or Alessandro Bastoni.

Inzaghi has put up with losing many key starters from the team during his time as Inter coach.

That has included Romelu Lukaku, Achraf Hakimi, Ivan Perisic, Milan Skriniar, Edin Dzeko, and Marcelo Brozovic.

This summer, the former Lazio coach wants it to be a different story.

Simone Inzaghi Makes Gudmundsson Priority Target For Inter

In terms of incoming transfers, however, Inzaghi also wants the team to be strengthened.

The existing squad may have been sufficient to win the Serie A title this season. But next campaign will see more matches that will push the squad depth to its limits.

Therefore, Inzaghi wants greater strength in depth and versatility.

And according to the Corriere, it is particularly in attack that the coach feels there is a need to make a signing – even with Mehdi Taremi arriving on a free transfer from Porto.

The newspaper report that Genoa forward Gudmundsson is the player Inzaghi particularly has his eye on.

The reason is that Gudmundsson has a profile unlike that of any forward currently in Inter’s squad.

Inzaghi believes that the Icelandic international would be exactly the player needed to take Inter’s attack to the next level.
