Inter Milan are considering a swoop to sign OGC Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram on a free transfer next summer.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Thuram will certainly be a player whose future is of interest to many clubs in the next year or two.

The French international is currently coming to the end of his fifth season at Nice, after having joined the club from Ligue 1 rivals Monaco in 2019.

Thuram has been a regular starter for Nice for the last four seasons he’s been at the club.

And the 23-year-old’s form has increasingly attracted transfer interest from some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

Thuram has a combination of physicality and technical ability that make him a very adept option in the holding midfield role for the style of play that Europe’s elite strive for.

Reports have linked Juventus with a strong interest in Thuram’s signature, in Serie A.

And from the Premier League, the top clubs have also shown an interest. Liverpool reportedly see Thuram as a target.

Inter Milan Eye Up Free Transfer Swoop Of Khephren Thuram

At the moment, Thuram is under contract with Nice until the end of next June.

Therefore, barring a contract extension for the 23-year-old, this summer would represent the last chance for Nice to cash in on his sale.

There will certainly be suitors for Thuram. But alternatively, the Frenchman could stay where he is, and then move on a free transfer next summer.

And it is that type of deal which Inter are hoping to pull off.

The Nerazzurri have made plenty of high-profile free transfer signings in recent years. These have included Hakan Calhanoglu, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, and Andre Onana.

Moreover, this summer, Piotr Zielinski and Mehdi Taremi will be arriving at Inter via that same route.

And last summer, Inter made a very notable free transfer signing – striker Marcus Thuram.

Convincing the 26-year-old personally was key to Inter landing Marcus. The former Borussia Monchengladbach had his pick of his clubs, and chose the Nerazzurri.

And Inter are hoping that the fact that Marcus has been as happy as he has been at the club could lead to him advising his brother Khephren on making the same move he did.

Moreover, the two players are the son of legendary former French international and Juventus, Parma, and Barcelona defender Lilian Thuram.

Lilian had played a role in Marcus’s decision to join Inter last summer. And so he could be another factor in Khephren making the same choice.
