Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez is reportedly aiming for a salary that matches that of Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic.

The talks between the Nerazzurri and the Argentine’s agent have heated up over the past few days.

While the parties seemed to be on song when they met in March, it has become evident that a final agreement over a new contract is no longer a foregone conclusion.

This is because a significant gap is separating the two sides.

In recent weeks, the player’s agent Alejandro Camano insisted that his client is eager to remain at the club. However, he noted that Inter must offer him a contract suitable to his status as a top-notch striker.

The Spaniard also mentioned how other players in Serie A have higher salaries than Lautaro despite producing less on the pitch. Fans and observers perceived it as a clear reference to Vlahovic.

The Serbian’s mounting wages at Juventus will eventually see him collect 12 million euros per season. That is unless the Bianconeri convince him to spread these figures through a new long-term contract.

Regardless, La Gazzetta dello Sport (via FcInterNews) believes that these are the figures Lautaro and his agent are gunning for.

Inter directors met with Camano yesterday at a hotel in Milano to set the stage for a crucial summit in the coming days.

Nevertheless, the Nerazzurri officials made it clear they aren’t willing to meet these figures.

The pink newspaper claims the Italian giants have raised their offer to 10 million, including bonuses.

The source describes it as a take-it-or-leave-it offer.

The Serie A champions could find themselves forced to place their star striker on the market.

Nevertheless, Inter are still hoping to find a definitive agreement with the player before the start of Copa America.
