“Inter Milan wingback Tajon Buchanan weighs in on his first six months in Serie A, hailing Simone Inzaghi for his winning mentality.
The Canada international joined the Nerazzurri in January following Juan Cuadrado’s injury.
Although he didn’t make any appearance as a starter, his playing time increased towards the end of the season. The versatile player made recurring cameos as a left wingback.
But despite the lack of playing time, Buchanan is still content with his first few months at the club. He feels he’s learning a lot from his teammates.
“Everyone in the squad has impressed me,” said the Canadian in his interview with TLN.
“They are all at Inter for a reason and I’m learning a lot from them every day.
“I’m still adapting to life in Serie A. But my teammates and the coaching staff have been helping me.
“It’s always nice to take the pitch and show what you can do. So I feel the more I play the more I’ll adapt to Italian football.”
Buchanan also describes his switch from Club Brugge to Inter as a massive career step-up.
“Inter are one of the biggest clubs in the world. Coming from the MLS to the Belgian league was a big jump.
“However, joining the Nerazzurri was a massive career jump. You can definitely feel the difference, and I’m super proud to be here.

The winger then revealed how Inzaghi is always eager to win every match.
“We have a really nice rapport with the coach. Obviously, he doesn’t speak much English but he knows what he wants from me. I’ve been learning a lot from him.
“He’s just a passionate guy who wants to win every single match.”
Buchanan also recalled his first Serie A goal which ensued in the 5-0 win over Frosinone.
“It was a very proud moment for me. I remember receiving the ball on the halfway line and then attacking my marker.
“He gave me some space and I managed to exploit it.”
Finally, the Canada international reveals that Inter had been after him since the 2022 World Cup.
“I remember after the World Cup my agent telling Inter are interested in me. There were talks last summer, but it eventually happened in the winter.
“It all happened so fast. Suddenly I was no longer playing at Brugge and a transfer was about to happen.
“Thankfully it all went so smoothly and my new teammates welcome me at Inter. It was a moment I dreamed of.”
