Inter Milan have reportedly set their sights on young Girona fullback Arnau Martinez, and even made an opening offer for the young player.

The Nerazzurri are searching the market for a player capable of filling the right wingback role.

That is because Juan Cuadrado is leaving the club, and more importantly, Denzel Dumfries’ future remains shrouded in mystery.

The Dutchman’s contract will expire in 2025, and the two parties haven’t been able to reach an agreement over an extension thus far.

In recent days, news reports have been linking the Serie A champions with several profiles for the role. The list includes Lazio wantaway Manuel Lazzari and Napoli captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo.

Moreover, a new profile has now emerged on the scene.

According to Cadena COPE via FcInterNews, the Nerazzurri are targeting a move for Arnau Martinez.

The 21-year-old is a Barcelona youth product who has been developing his game at Girona since 2018.

Inter Milan Kickstart Negotiations For Girona Youngster Arnau Martinez

The fullback rose through the ranks of the Blanquivermells, becoming a regular feature with the first team.

In what was an extraordinary campaign for Girona who eventually qualified for the Champions League, Martinez made 26 appearances across all competitions, providing his teammates with three assists.

As the source explains, the youngster has a release clause worth 20 million euros.

However, Inter aren’t willing to spend this amount. Instead, the Italian champions reportedly made an opening bid worth 5 million euros.

While Girona are unlikely to accept this figure, the report explains that this offer is aimed to kickstart the negotiations between the two clubs.

Arnau can play as right-back, right wingback or even as a central defender.
