Genoa striker Albert Gudmundsson is reportedly all in favor of a transfer to Inter Milan, but Marko Arnautovic remains the main barrier in the way.

The Nerazzurri have already acquired the services of Mehdi Taremi who will sign as a free agent in July.

The Iranian will join a department that features Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram.

But as La Gazzetta dello Sport (via FcInterNews) explains, the club is still seeking a fourth striker capable of raising the level of the attack.

In other words, Inter would like to replace Arnautovic with a new profile they deem more suitable for the role. For his part, Alexis Sanchez will leave the club once his contract expires at the end of the month.

The pink newspaper reveals that Inter CEO Beppe Marotta has already made contact with Gudmundsson.

The latter enjoyed a stellar campaign at Luigi Ferraris, scoring 14 goals in Serie A.

The Iceland international has already said yes to the notion of joining the Italian champions this summer.

Yet, the report believes that Arnautovic’s stay is blocking the move.

Marko Arnautovic Blocking Inter Milan Attempts To Sign Albert Gudmundsson

In a recent interview, the Austrian veteran has made it clear that he’s staying at Appiano Gentile for another season.

The Nerazzurri signed the veteran from Bologna last summer. His contract with the Beneamata is valid until 2025.

As the source notes, almost all Inter players are happy to stay at the club, so moving players out has become a difficult task for Marotta and his collaborators.

Nevertheless, the management will be hoping for the emergence of a lucrative offer from the Saudi Pro League that could prompt Arnautovic to change his mind.

That is because the departure of the former West Ham man would make way for the possible arrival of Gudmundsson.
