Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi is reportedly hoping to maintain the services of Denzel Dumfries for next season.

While the Nerazzurri will likely keep their main core intact, the 27-year-old could be the exception.

That’s because the Dutchman is running on a contract that expires in 2025, while the management hasn’t been able to reach an agreement with his agents over a renewal.

The Italian champions have offered the wingback a salary of 4 million euros, similar to his teammate Federico Dimarco. Yet, Dumfries is holding out for wages worth 5M per year.

Therefore, the Nerazzurri are already searching the market for possible replacements. The list includes the likes of Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Manuel Lazzari and Emil Holm.

The most enticing option for the Nerazzuri could be AZ Alkmaar’s Yukinari Sugawara.

However, Inzaghi is still keen to keep Dumfries at Appiano Gentile.

According to Tuttosport via FcInterNews, the 48-year-old will soon hold talks with the management to lay plans for the market.

The former Lazio coach should reiterate his desire to maintain the services of the Netherlands international.

Simone Inzaghi Wants To Keep Denzel Dumfries At Inter Milan

But as the source explains, the player’s future will largely depend on the outcome of the crucial talks between the management and the player’s agents.

In the meantime, Inzaghi will be crossing his fingers, waiting for the white smoke to emerge.

But if the two parties fail to reach an accord, Inter will place Dumfries on the market.

As the Turin-based newspaper explains, Aston Villa remain interested in the Dutchman. Yet, the Champions League new boys could be reluctant to splash 30 million euros for his services.

Therefore, the source believes that Inter could end up keeping the player if they don’t receive satisfying offers, even if it means risking losing his services for free in 2025.
