Inter Milan are reportedly adamant about signing Athletico Paranaense and Brazil goalkeeper Bento this summer.

This is according to Il Corriere dello Sport (via FcInterNews). The Roman newspaper explains how the Serie A champions consider the custodian as the ideal profile to protect their goal for years to come.

The Nerazzurri have been on the 24-year-old’s trail for more than a year now. However, they couldn’t find an agreement with the Brazilian club last summer.

Some sources suggested that Bento remained at his club in return for the promise to leave in the summer of 2024.

Therefore, Inter could stand a bigger chance of landing his services this time around.

Nevertheless, Bento has gained more suitors over the past 12 months thanks to his solid displays between the posts.

In his 25 appearances for Paranaense this season, he registered 13 clean sheets and only allowed 15 goals.

Inter Milan Keen To Sign Bento But His Price Tag Could Ward Them Away

The shot-stopper also earned his international debut where he impressed by maintaining a clean sheet in Brazil’s 1-0 victory over England in a friendly match held at Wembley last March.

Therefore, Bento’s price tag has now reached 20 million euros, which could prompt the Nerazzurri to consider other options.

The source thus names two possible alternatives.

The first is Genoa’s Josep Martinez who earned the plaudits during his maiden Serie A campaign.

The 26-year-old’s contract with the Grifone will expire in 2025, so he could be available at an affordable price.

The other possibility for Inter would be to maintain the services of Emil Audero for another year.

The Nerazzurri signed the Italian on loan from Sampdoria last summer. They have the option to make the move permanent for 7 million euros.

The 27-year-old served as understudy to Yann Sommer who’s expected to remain the Number One at Appiano Gentile for at least another year.
