Inter Milan are reportedly monitoring Bologna defender Sam Beukema as they could seek a replacement for Francesco Acerbi.

The latter has been suffering from a recurring groin pain that hindered this availability in the final stages of the campaign.

The 36-year-old will undergo surgery next week to repair the issue, and thus miss Italy’s Euro 2024 campaign.

According to Il Giorno via FcInterNews, Acerbi’s condition could prompt the club to sign a new defender this summer.

The source claims Beukema has emerged as a possible candidate for the role.

The 25-year-old joined Bologna last summer, completing a transfer from AZ Alkmaar. He instantly cemented himself as a pillar at the back in Thiago Motta’s tactical setup.

The Dutchman thus played a key role in the Rossoblu’s historic campaign which culminated in a Champions League qualification.

Sam Beukema Emerges As Possible Francesco Acerbi Replacement At Inter Milan

The report believes Inter have identified Beukema as an alternative to their favorite target Alessandro Buongiorno.

The Nerazzurri would love to bring the Italian defender to Appiano Gentile, but Torino have set their price at 40 million euros.

Therefore, the Italian champions could turn their attention to cheaper options, and the list includes Beukema.

The Dutch defender would reportedly cost Inter a figure between 25 and 30 million euros.

However, the source notes that Bologna director Gianluca Sartori doesn’t want to deprive himself of the centre-back’s services. Nevertheless, the same was said about Marko Arnautovic last summer, notes Il Giorno.

Finally, the report mentions Jaka Bijol as another possible candidate for the role. The 25-year-old Slovenian has been plying his trade at Udinese since 2022.
