Inter Milan legend Marco Materazzi heaps praise on Inter Milan trio Lautaro Martinez, Nicolo Barella and Alessandro Bastoni.

All three players enjoyed a brilliant 2023/24 campaign, leading the Nerazzurri towards the Serie A title.

The Argentine striker, in particular, managed to steal the limelight. He won the Serie A MVP Award as well as the league’s Top Goalscorer award.

The 26-year-old has also reportedly reached an agreement in principle with the club over a new contract.

This should keep Martinez at the club for years to come, and Materazzi has already crowned him as the king of Milan.

“Lautaro knows he cannot act as a father figure in the locker room, but he is the club captain,” said the 2006 World Cup winner in his interview with Sport Mediaset via FcInterNews.

“Martinez also knows the weight he has in the locker room. He is the master of his own destiny. If He wants to be the king of Milan, he can already claim it.”

The retired defender also heaps praise on Barella and Bastoni.

“Lautaro, like Nicolò Barella and Alessandro Bastoni, are guys who can walk around Milan with their heads held high and a crown on their heads.”

Materazzi expects Simone Inzaghi’s men to confirm their superiority over the Italian landscape next season.

“I expect continuity, which is also demonstrated by those who have joined the club.

“We must avoid jealousy like what happened on the other side of Milan.

“The Nerazzurri must be a symbol of intelligence and competence.”
