Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez will soon ink a new contract with Inter Milan, and it will include an interesting Champions League clause.

After some back-and-forth talks, the two parties finally reached an agreement in principle over an extension.

The striker’s intervention eventually played a decisive role, as his desire to remain at the club prevailed over other factors.

The Argentina international should sign the contract next week following the club’s general assembly meeting on Tuesday.

This meeting will see a new president elected in addition to a new board of directors. Afterwards, the club can resume their operations as usual, and the first order of business will be finalizing Lautaro’s renewal.

The 26-year-old’s deal will be valid until 2029 and should earn him 9 million euros per year as net wages.

However, the new contract should also include add-ons that would allow the player to pocket double figures.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport via FcInterNews, one of the bonuses will be directly linked to winning the Champions League.

The Roman newspaper talks about a lucrative incentive awaiting the Nerazzurri skipper if he manages to lead the troops towards European glory.

Inter Milan Captain Lautaro Martinez To Have Lucrative Champions League Bonus In New Contract

Simone Inzaghi’s men came extremely close to achieving this goal last season. However, they fell just short in the final against Man City in Istanbul.

Despite their marvelous domestic campaign, Inter failed to go far in the UCL this term. Their European campaign ended in the Round of 16 following dramatic shootouts against Atletico Madrid.

Nevertheless, Martinez will be eager to lift the coveted trophy next season, and the lucrative bonus will serve as an extra incentive.
