Inter Milan and their coach Simone Inzaghi are still ironing out the final details on a contract extension for the 48-year-old.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews. The broadcaster anticipate that there will soon be a meeting to finalize a new deal for the coach, once Oaktree Capital’s new board of directors is in place.

There is no doubt that Inter want to keep their current coach in place for the foreseeable future.

While there have been ups and downs during the former Lazio boss’s tenure on the bench, the trajectory has certainly been upwards. Inter won the Serie A title during the season just gone.

At the moment, Inzaghi’s contract with Inter runs until the end of next June.

Therefore, the Nerazzurri will aim to extend the 48-year-old’s deal.

And despite it normally being the policy of Inter CEO Beppe Marotta to only hand one-year bumper deals to coaches, the club are ready to offer Inzaghi a two-year extension.

The Nerazzurri are willing to extend Inzaghi’s deal until the end of June 2027.

And for his part, Inzaghi is not thinking about anything besides staying at Inter. The coach feels that his work at the club is far from over.

Inter Milan & Simone Inzaghi Still Must Iron Out Final Contract Details

In spite of all that, there is not yet a final agreement on the terms of a new contract for Inter and Inzaghi.

There have already been meetings between the Nerazzurri and their coach’s agent.

The parties are certainly not far away from reaching a definitive agreement on an extension.

But as of yet, Sky reports, there will still need to be some more negotiations.

The main issue that Inter and Inzaghi’s agent must resolve is wages. They have not quite arrived on a number yet.

For the last couple of weeks, Inter have been kept busy by the change of ownership to Oaktree Capital.

However, the US fund will have a new board of directors in place soon. They should name the new board in tomorrow’s shareholders meeting.

Then, Sky report, Intern will hold a meeting with Inzaghi’s representatives soon.

They should wrap up a new contract for the coach imminently.
