Inter Milan are aiming to wrap up contract extensions for Simone Inzaghi, Lautaro Martinez, and Nicolo Barella this week.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

This week looks to be something of a crossroads for Inter.

Tomorrow, the Nerazzurri will hold a shareholders meeting where they will name a new board of directors and President.

This will be a key step in consolidating the ownership of Oaktree Capital.

With that out of the way, the Nerazzurri can start moving ahead on their plans in terms of the squad, having occupied themselves with the transition to the new ownership over the last couple weeks.

And then in just over a week, international tournaments will begin.

Many players in Inter’s squad will be in action at the Euros and the Copa America. Therefore, Inter want to sort things out as far as a couple key contract extensions prior to then.

Inter To Wrap Up Inzaghi, Lautaro & Barella Extensions This Week

First, there will be the matter of a new contract for coach Simone Inzaghi.

Inter have been in discussions with the 48-year-old’s agent for some time now. His contract runs out at the end of next June as things stand – but the club will hand him a two-year extension until the end of June 2027.

The Gazzetta anticipate the decisive meeting between Inter and Inzaghi’s agent this week.

Then, there will be the matter of a new contract for Inter captain Lautaro Martinez.

The last couple days have seen a breakthrough in contract talks between Inter and Martinez.

The negotiations have been going on for months now, without a decisive agreement. And there had been hints that the gap is unbridgeable in terms of wages.

However, Martinez has made clear that he wants to stay, and this has resulted in an agreement.

Lastly, Inter have also been ready to extend the contract of midfielder Nicolo Barella for some time now.

And with Oaktree’s ownership structure fully in place, the Nerazzurri want to complete the 27-year-old’s contract extension this week.
