Athletico Paranaense keeper Bento is still top of Inter Milan’s shortlist of targets to back up Yann Sommer next season.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews. The broadcaster also report that Inter could keep Emil Audero, but not at the price set in his purchase clause.

Now that Inter have gotten through the transitional period under new owners Oaktree, the club can start attending to other matters.

Chief among them is the transfer market.

With a new board of directors in place – and CEO of Sport Beppe Marotta having become club President – Inter will be able to start making signings.

And one of the first priorities for the summer transfer window for Inter is to sign a new goalkeeper.

Yann Sommer will certainly remain the first-choice between the posts next season.

However, there is no certainty as to who the 35-year-old’s deputy will be.

This past season, Emil Audero was the main backup to Sommer. However, the 27-year-old is only at Inter on loan from Sampdoria.

The Nerazzurri do have a purchase option to sign Audero on a permanent basis.

However, there is little intention on Inter’s part of paying the full €7 million amount to Sampdoria.

Therefore, if Inter were to keep hold of Audero, they would have to negotiate an alternate deal with the Blucerchiati.

Bento Still Top Of Inter Milan Shortlist To Back Up Yann Sommer

And according to Sky, keeping Audero would not be Inter’s first choice in any event.

That would still be a move for Athletico Paranaense’s Bento.

The 24-year-old will not come cheap. Athletico reportedly want no less than 20 million for their keeper.

And the Brazilian club will hardly be offering any discount considering that there is plenty of interest in Bento’s signature.

Nevertheless, Sky report, Inter still consider the Brazilian to be their top target in attack.

And now that the Nerazzurri are really ready to start their work in the transfer market for the summer, one of their first orders of business will be to try and pull off a deal to sign Bento.
