Inter Milan are targeting Udinese goalkeeper Maduka Okoye as a possible backup for Yann Sommer next season.

This according to Sky Sport Italia transfer market expert Gianluca Di Marzio. Di Marzio reported live on air, via FCInterNews, that the 24-year-old is one of three players the Nerazzurri are looking at in goal.

One thing that is clear is that Inter are aiming to sign a keeper this summer.

Former Bayern Munich veteran Yann Sommer will remain at the club. He will keep his place as the first-choice starter for at least one more season.

But Emil Audero will leave Inter, with his loan from Sampdoria expiring.

Inter will not sign Audero on a permanent basis. The 27-year-old is a target for newly-promoted Como.

Inter’s plan is to sign a young keeper. The idea would be to bring someone in to deputize for Sommer next season – but then inherit the Swiss’s starting shirt in the long term.

Inter Targeting Udinese Keeper Maduka Okoye

According to Sky, there are three names on Inter’s shortlist as far as a keeper to sign this summer.

One would be Athletico Paranaense and Brazil goalkeeper Bento.

The 24-year-old has been on Inter’s radar for more than a year, and they see him as an ideal target as Sommer’s long-term replacement.

Then, there is also Genoa keeper Josep Martinez.

But according to Di Marzio, there is also another keeper in Serie A that Inter are keeping tabs on.

The Sky transfer expert reports that the Nerazzurri are also monitoring Udinese goalkeeper Okoye.

This past season, the Nigerian international displaced Marco Silvestri as the starting keeper for the Friulani with his performances.

And Di Marzio reports that this has placed Okoye on Inter’s shortlist along with Bento and Martinez.

The Udinese keeper fits into the same age profile as the other two targets.
