Inter Milan players Alessandro Bastoni, Federico Dimarco, Davide Frattesi, and Hakan Calhanoglu all put in solid shifts in yesterday’s friendly between Italy and Turkey.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews.

Yesterday, Italy took on Turkey in a friendly match.

Both sides are finalizing their preparations for the upcoming Euros.

A total of four Inter players appeared in yesterday’s EURO 2024 warmup match.

For Italy, there were two Nerazzurri players in the backline of the starting eleven. Federico Dimarco played on the left, whilst Alessandro Bastoni played in midfield.

Meanwhile, Nicolo Barella was absent due to a slight muscular knock. The 27-year-old was left out as a precaution.

And then versatile veteran Matteo Darmian was an unused substitute.

Meanwhile, Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu is the captain of the Turkish national team. Therefore, it was little surprise to see the 30-year-old in the starting eleven for his side.

Bastoni, Dimarco, Frattesi & Calhanoglu All Solid In Italy Vs Turkey Clash

For Italy, there was a sense of things clicking into place.

And in that sense, the Corriere argue, the signs from both Bastoni and Dimarco were positive.

In the case of Bastoni, the 25-year-old looked to defend proactively and start the attacking phase up quickly. This will certainly be his role at the Euros.

Dimarco, meanwhile, had a role supporting the midfield by drifting into central areas.

The 26-year-old’s technical ability and passing range made him Italy’s most promising creative outlet.

Frattesi came off the bench. The 24-year-old didn’t have too much of an impact, but added energy and legs to the Azzurri midfield at a period when they were losing a bit of their grip on the match.

And lastly, Inter midfieler Calhanoglu played in a double pivot with Galatasaray’s Kaan Ayhan for Turkey.

This is not quite the position that the former AC Milan midfielder usually plays for Inter. He typically sits deep as part of a midfield trio.

But it was a mature display on both sides of the ball from Calhanoglu in any event.
