Genoa CEO Andres Blazquez admits that Josep Martinez is on the verge of becoming an Inter Milan player.

The Nerazzurri have secured an agreement with the Grifone for the Spain international.

The 26-year-old has been plying his trade in the Port City since making the move from RB Leipzig in 2022.

The Spaniard managed to impress in his maiden Serie A campaign, thus earning the attention of the Italian champions.

So after opting against keeping Emil Audero on a permanent basis, Inter have been exploring the market for a new goalkeeper.

And after failing to make a breakthrough for Bento, they turned their attention towards Martinez.

The two clubs have managed to find an accord over the last few days. The operation will cost the Beneamata circa 15 million euros.

But while we’re still awaiting the official announcement, Blazquez has all but confirmed the transfer.

“Martinez is now almost an Inter player,” said the Genoa CEO in an interview with Calcio e Finanza via FcInterNews.

“Then there are other players that we will sell this summer, but mostly not the starters.

“We aim to have a positive impact of 10-12 million by managing to invest, as we did with Vitinha, also in anticipation of some departures.”

Blazquez also discussed his star player Albert Gudmundsson who is heavily linked with a move to Inter as well.

The Grifone official insists that the Icelandic’s legal problems back home (regarding alleged sexual assault) haven’t affected his future.

“The investigation regarding Gudmundsson has not influenced the clubs’ interest in him.

“It is not a simple process even if the player has always said he is convinced of his innocence and we believe him.

“I say that this hasn’t affected his situation because the market for attackers has not yet started.”
