Argentina assistant manager Walter Samuel reveals that the Albiceleste will decide who plays against Peru between Valentin Carboni and Alejandro Garnacho.

The Inter Milan treble-winner is in charge tonight as head coach Lionel Scaloni will be serving a one-match touchline ban.

The defending champions have already booked their place in the Copa America quarter-finals. They won their opening fixture against Canada 2-0 and then beat Chile 1-0.

Inter captain Lautaro Martinez scored on both occasions after coming off the bench.

Therefore, the 26-year-old could start in the final group-stage fixture against, thus leaving Man City striker Julian Alvarez on the bench.

The World Champions will be looking to revamp their starting lineup thanks to their early qualification. So even Leo Messi won’t be in the starting formation.

This could give the opportunity to Valentin Carboni to play from the get-go. However, the Nerazzurri youngster must overcome competition from Man United winger Garnacho.

For his part, Samuel insists that the coaching staff is happy with both youngsters, but will have to choose between them today.

“We have so many expectations on Carboni and Garnacho,” said the Inter legend in his pre-match press conference via FcInterNews.

“I hope they can both have enough minutes, but yes, we will decide who plays today.

“We are very enthusiastic about both of them, they have earned their place in the national team.

“It’s not like they only joined us just to complete the squad. They are playing at their best.”

Carboni spent his campaign on loan at Monza, contributing with two Serie A goals and four assists.

At the moment, there are conflicting reports regarding his future at the club. While some expect Inter to sell him to raise funds, other sources believe the Italian champions are keen to maintain his services.
