Inter Milan star Hakan Calhanoglu will be pleased to meet his club teammates in the EURO 2024 quarter-final showdown between Turkiye and the Netherlands.

The Turks have thus far impressed in the tournament, putting on some entertaining displays.

They managed to finish second in their group behind Portugal thanks to thrilling wins over Georgia and the Czech Republic.

The Crescent-stars then skipped past Austria in the Round of 16 to book a clash against the Dutch.

The Oranje will enter the encounter as the favorites according to all major bookmakers, including Vulkan Bet.

However, Calhanoglu believes he and his compatriots can have their say.

“There is a lot of enthusiasm within the team but also outside thanks to our great fans,” said the 30-year-old midfielder in the pre-match press conference via FcInterNews.

“They are helping us and we are happy with their support. I hope they can do even more tomorrow.”

Therefore, Calhanoglu admits it won’t be easy without the defender.

“Tomorrow we will also play for Demiral, we want to give him strength. We always believe in ourselves, we want to get to the end.

“I’m very sorry for Merih. I don’t want to create so much controversy, there are so many discussions.

“We are with him, the team is with him. We have to wait for his return. It’s a tough situation, everyone has their own celebration. We are Turkish, we are like that.

“There has been so much controversy, I don’t want to cause another stir. We have to accept it and look forward.”

The midfielder also heaped praise on his national team manager Vincenzo Montella.

“Montella is an excellent manager, I was happy when he arrived.”

Finally, Hakan is looking forward to his reunion with his Inter teammates Denzel Dumfries and Stefan de Vrij who will be representing the Netherlands.

“We haven’t spoken recently. But There will be a lot of respect, I’m happy to see Dumfries and De Vrij.

“But we are all representing our national teams, so it’s different. Each of us will do his part and wil be looking to win.”
